Newcomb Art Gallery Exhibit

Ninety Ibeji twins created by the Yoruba peoples of Nigeria will be displayed in

"Doubly Blessed: The Ibeji Twins of Nigeria" from Jan. 12 through Feb. 27 at the

Newcomb Art Gallery. The Yoruba have one of the highest rates of twin births and deaths in the world. If one or both twins die, the family traditionally has an artist create an Ibeji, a small figure representing the spirit of the deceased. The mother will then feed, bathe, dress and care for the Ibeji as if it were a living child. For more information call 865-5328 or visit http://www.NewcombArtGallery.com.
