Ariana Grande and Kelly Clarkson admit to not practicing their duet "When Christmas Comes Around" before performing it.

Kelly Clarkson's NBC holiday special, When Christmas Comes Around, featured Ariana Grande and Kelly Clarkson talking about their love for the holiday season.

However, due to their hectic schedules, this duo's live performance was the first time they had ever performed it together.

Grande and Clarkson collaborated on a new holiday song in addition to their starring roles on the reality competition series The Voice.

When Christmas Comes Around, Clarkson's 2021 album, includes the song "Santa, Can't You Hear Me."

On the music streaming platform Spotify, the official recording of this song has received over 7 million plays.

However, this wouldn't be the first time Clarkson or Grande released holiday music; one of Clarkson's best-known holiday tracks is 2013's "Underneath the Tree." In 2021, the Grammy Award-winning singers will give their first live performance of "Santa, Can't You Hear Me," which they performed in one holiday-themed NBC special.

(In fact, it was the first time Clarkson and Grande performed the song live.) Clarkson also included a live performance of "Santa, Can't You Hear Me" with Grande in her When Christmas Comes Around NBC special.

During one interview, the artist revealed that it was the first time they performed the song together.

During an interview with ET Online, Kelly said, "It was literally the first time we had been in the same room singing it."

"It's also a fairly detailed song."

Ariana agreed, "Oh, it's a vocal."

"We switch harmonies almost every verse, or every pre-chorus, and we flip-flop what we're singing; it was a lot of fun, but we were definitely out of body, hovering."

This isn't the first time Grande has worked on a holiday project with another artist.

Grande appeared on Jimmy Fallon's "It Was A... (Masked Christmas)" the following year after lending her voice to Mariah Carey's "Oh Santa."

In addition, Grande sang "A Hand for Mrs. Claus" on Idina Menzel's Christmas; A Season of Love album, which she described as a "feminist" Christmas song in an interview with Billboard.

Menzel explained, "That was written by Bobby and Kristen Lopez, who are the composers of all the Frozen music."

"So I called them and asked, 'Would you guys write me an original song for a holiday album?'... And then Ariana [Grande] was so gracious in finding time in her crazy touring schedule to record this song with me, and I owe her a debt of gratitude."

Christmas and Chill, as well as Christmas Kisses, are available on Spotify, Apple Music, and most other major streaming platforms.
