Fans Have a Lot of Questions About Monet, Mecca, and Zeke in 'Power Book II; Ghost'
The second season of Power Book II: Ghost has only just begun, but things are already out of control.
Monet (Mary J. Blige) had hoped to get out of the drug business by following in the footsteps of her NBA-bound nephew Zeke (Daniel Bellomy).
Zeke, on the other hand, has found himself in the middle of a murder investigation.
Zeke isn't actually Monet's nephew, according to Ghost fans.
Instead, he's her son (Daniel Sunjata), whom she had with Mecca.
For all these years, Monet has kept her true relationship with Zeke hidden.
Fans are now looking for answers.
We know that when they were teenagers, Monet and Mecca had a whirlwind romance involving New Edition, Junior's cheesecake, and sports cars.
Mecca, on the other hand, seemed to vanish from Monet's life when he joined the military, only to reappearance 20 years later.
"Let's just say they had a relationship as teenagers, and he went off and became an international man of mystery, and has returned into her life at the most inconvenient time... it's never a good time!" Power Universe creator Courtney Kemp told TV Line.
However, we recently learned that Zeke, who we all assumed was Monet's nephew, is actually the son she kept hidden from Mecca in a recent episode of Ghost.
After discovering the tuth, Mecca tells Monet, "We need to fight for Zeke now."
"Let me do it by your side; together, we'll save our son."
We know that Zeke was born when Monet and Mecca were still teenagers, and that the drug lord and her family raised him as her nephew.
One Power Universe fan, on the other hand, devised a timeline.
"Zeke is their son, born in 1998, and Cane is their daughter, born in 1999," they explained to Express.
"That is to say, she had Zeke before meeting Lorenzo, and I recall her telling Mecca, 'This ain't my mother's house, you can't be knocking over trash cans.'"
Zeke's parentage has thrown fans for a loop, and they're now desperate to learn more about his parents from the NBA prospect.
With Diana (LaToya Tonodeo) pushing for her father's release and Saxe (Shane Johnson) seemingly uncovering a way for Lorenzo to be released this season, it appears that the drug lord may be set free.
Obviously, this would be a major problem for Monet, who is currently divorced and obsessed with Mecca.
It'd be particularly dangerous if Lorenzo discovered Monet's affair with Mecca or Zeke's true parentage.
However, hints from the character's press release suggest that all hell is about to break loose.
According to the official Starz release, "Lorenzo, the patriarch of the Tejada organization, has been calling the shots for the drug organization â even from within."
"However, as Monet asserts her independence and a desire to protect her children from the game, Lorenzo's need for control causes them to clash; Lorenzo becomes intrigued by some secrets Monet has kept from him, and a conflict develops that threatens to split the Tejada family in two."
We're pretty sure Monet will never forgive Lorenzo for refusing to let her mortgage their home to pay for Zeke's defense.
