How to Watch the Nominated Films at the Golden Globes in 2022
The Golden Globe Awards have always been one of the most talked-about events during awards season.
Despite the fact that the awards, which are given annually by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), are frequently the subject of debate, they continue to captivate fans both inside and outside the industry.
Once again, it's time to talk about how fans can see the films nominated for some of the most prestigious awards.
Snoop Dogg and Helen Hoehne, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, announced the nominations for the 2022 Golden Globes on December 13, 2021.
The announcement was made live on the website and YouTube channel of the award show.
And, as is often the case, many of the nominated films are difficult to locate for curious viewers.
The Best Picture - Non-English Language nominees, for example, are a perfect example of this.
The Finnish film Compartment No.6 and the Iranian film A Hero are both set to hit theaters in the United States soon.
Parallel Mothers, a Spanish film, and Drive My Car, a Japanese film, are currently in limited release.
Only The Hand of God is currently available to watch online, as the Italian film will be released on Netflix on December 15. But what about the other major nominees, such as Belfast and The Power of the Dog?
Thankfully, thanks to the increasing prominence of streaming services in the awards conversation, a number of key nominated films are now available to watch at home.
Only Belfast and Dune are currently exclusive to theaters in the Best Motion Picture - Drama category.
CODA is available on Apple TV, while HBO Max and Netflix have King Richard and The Power of the Dog, respectively.
Only Netflix's tick, tick... BOOM! is currently streaming online in the Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy category, but Don't Look Up will be available on December 24. Meanwhile, Licorice Pizza will be released in a wide release on Christmas Day, and Cyrano will be released in a limited release on January 7, 2022.
West Side Story, directed by Steven Spielberg, is currently showing in select IMAX and Dolby Cinema theaters.
Finally, thanks to Disney's dominance in the category, the majority of the Best Picture - Animated nominees are available to stream.
Raya and the Last Dragon, as well as Disney and Pixar's Luca, are available to stream on Disney.
Encanto, a Disney film, will be available on the streaming service on December 24, while Flee, an animated documentary, and My Sunny Maad, a feature film, are both in the middle of their limited theatrical runs.
Of course, the Golden Globe-nominated films' availability is subject to change.
In the meantime, fans can watch a variety of films at their leisure.
The 79th Golden Globe Awards are set for January 9, 2022, but it's unclear whether the show will be broadcast due to the HFPA's ongoing boycott.
