Liana and Shan confront Danny at Ponderosa on Survivor 41.
With only five players left after castaway Danny McCray was voted off in the December 8 episode, "Survivor 41" is getting down to the wire.
Fans were curious how "Survivor 41" castaways Shan Smith and Liana Wallace would react to Danny's arrival at Ponderosa, a resort that houses the eliminated contestants, after his elimination.
After the merger, the Texas native formed an alliance with Shan, Liana, and Deshawn, but Danny and Deshawn broke their promise and wrote Shan's name down at Tribal Council in episode 10.
Liana was voted off the island the following week.
Danny arrives at Ponderosa and reunites with the other eliminated castaways in an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip posted by the official "Survivor" YouTube channel.
Evvie Jagoda and Tiffany Seely greet him warmly, but Shan Smith and Liana Wallace, who were once allies, are hesitant to welcome him back.
In a confessional, Danny revealed that he expected some hostility between him and his former allies.
"Because of how the vote out went, there may be some conversations between me, Shan, and Liana," he said. "I knew I was going to be walking into some fire, and it may have been a little hotter than expected."
Liana and Shan didn't hesitate to confront Danny about betraying their alliance at Ponderosa.
Danny and Deshawn were accused by Liana of severing the alliance by voting Shan out a few weeks prior.
Danny retaliates, claiming that he lost faith in Shan after she told Ricard about the vote-out plan.
Shan responds that she felt obligated to inform Ricard of the plan.
"I gave Ricard a heads up as a courtesy to my number one," she explained to Danny. "I was still locked in with my number four."
"I'm willing to do whatever it takes for all four of us to get together and show that no matter what happened on that TV show, we [are] still sticking together and we were able to discuss it and move past it," Danny tries to smooth things over.
Danny, Deshawn, Liana, and Shan bonded over more than their shared love of "Survivor." The foursome talked about how they felt obligated to represent and honor the black community.
Fans took to Twitter after Danny's elimination to express their thoughts on the episode.
Some fans were disappointed to see the former NFL player retire from the sport.
"Sadness. Danny was the very calm rational sane person of the season and I appreciate the player," one fan wrote on Twitter. "I hate Survivor. I was rooting for you Danny," another Twitter user said.
Others believed Danny's elimination was retaliation for abandoning Shan and Liana.
"Soooo, Danny and Deshawn... how did destroying your all black alliance work out [for] ya?" one fan wrote, while another said, "danny and deshawn should have kept shan as their shield just like xander kept ricard as his. They made a terrible and premature move."
"Survivor" airs on CBS on Wednesdays at 8 p.m.
