Is Ariana Grande going to leave 'The Voice' after Season 21?
NBC's "The Voice" added Ariana Grande as a new coach during season 21 of the reality singing competition.
She replaced Nick Jonas, who served as a coach on seasons 18 and 20 of the show, in the big red chair, alongside Blake Shelton, John Legend, and Kelly Clarkson.
Nothing has been announced about any of the coaches for the upcoming season of the show in terms of who will stay and who will leave as of this writing.
The seat in which Grande sits on the show is usually a revolving door for coaches.
Gwen Stefani has sat in the chair several times, including in seasons 18 and 20 when Nick Jonas stepped in as a coach.
Then, Grande took over that seat, indicating that either Jonas or Stefani could return for a second season of the show.
That said, it's unlikely that Grande's time on "The Voice" will come to an end anytime soon.
In late 2022, she'll most likely return for Season 22.
Even if the star does not return at that time, she is likely to return in a later season.
While the show hasn't been officially renewed for another season by NBC, it's very likely that it will be renewed in the near future.
On both Monday and Tuesday nights, the show is a ratings powerhouse for the network, consistently outperforming other shows in terms of viewership.
"The Voice" has averaged a.84 rating in the 18-49 demographic on Monday nights, according to TVSeriesFinale, a site that reports and analyzes ratings throughout the season.
According to the site, the overall viewership on Monday nights averages around 6.73 million viewers.
While these figures are lower than the previous season, they are still impressive for network television in 2021.
The show has an average of 6.87 million viewers on Tuesday nights and a rating of.84 in the coveted 18-49 demographic.
These figures are also down from the previous year, but they are up in comparison to other shows.
No coaches have been officially confirmed for Season 22.
Of course, none of this will be confirmed until the show is renewed by NBC.
All four coaches, Blake Shelton, Ariana Grande, John Legend, and Kelly Clarkson, are expected to return for season 22 of the show.
Shelton has previously stated his desire to leave the competition, but it is clear that he is still very invested in it at the time of writing.
Shelton hinted at wanting to leave "The Voice" during a segment on "Today With Hoda and Jenna" in March 2021, which was before the star got married and began filming season 21 of the show.
When asked about leaving the show, he said at the time, "I hope that's not too far down the road."
"I think ten years is a long time, and I'd like to see it sooner rather than later."
He went on to say that he and his wife, Gwen Stefani, want to spend the rest of their lives together.
"I mean, we've both pretty much pushed it to the limit as far as our careers and touring and now the television thing," Shelton said at the time of the interview. "It's been fortunate to accomplish a lot of things."
On NBC, "The Voice" airs at 8 p.m. Eastern time (live) and Pacific time (recorded) on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Season 22 of "The Voice" is expected to premiere in 2022.
