They were chosen following a swimsuit and evening gown competition, as well as a display of their national costumes (which did not count toward the competition).

Below is a list of the top five contestants from the Miss Universe 2021 pageant.

The Top 3 were chosen after the judges' question-and-answer session.

Miss South Africa Lalela Lali Mswane, Miss India Harnaaz Sandhu, and Miss Paraguay Nadia Ferreira were among the contestants.

Here's how to watch a live stream of the pageant online.

Nadia's participation in the Miss Universe pageant is widely accepted, having been declared by the Chamber of Deputies as a national and cultural interest of the country. She is also a social activist."

According to her Miss Universe profile, this 27-year-old environmental activist is "an Afro-Colombian woman born in Cartagena de Indias and raised in the Archipelago of San Andrandeacute;s, Providencia, and Santa Catalina. She's a professional in international relations with a diploma in Marketing and Strategy from La Verne University in the United States."

This 26-year-old is the first lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender woman to win Miss Universe Philippines.

According to her Miss Universe profile, she is also a "community development worker and a Philippine Navy Marines Reservist under the 82nd Marine Battalion Reserve of the Naval Reserve Center of Eastern Visayas."

In our predictions, we were correct on three of the top five.

Miss India Harnaaz Sandhu and Miss Colombia Valeria Maria Ayos Bossa were the ones we missed out on, despite the fact that Miss Colombia was in our Top 10. Miss Namibia Chelsi Shikongo and Miss Puerto Rico Michelle Marie Colandoacute;n Ramandiacute;rez were the two we predicted would make the Top 5 but did not.

Miss South Africa Lalela Lali Mswane is the woman we think will win the competition.

After a year away from hosting, comedian Steve Harvey returned to host the Miss Universe 2021 pageant.

Lori Harvey, along with Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere, actresses Urvashi Rautela, Marian Rivera, Adamari Landoacute;pez, and Rena Sofer, and supermodel Adriana Lima, served on the judging panel.

The performers were American artist JoJo (Joanna Levesque) and Israeli artist Noa Kirel.
